A conversation in the Champagne region of France:
Ari: C'est quoi une tarte tatin?
Waitress: Bfffffff. Une tarte tatin, c'est une tarte tatin!
Because Ari and I don't drink much, the region of Champagne should have been a total waste for us. But the landscape and luscious vineyards sure made up for that :-). In Épernay, we even walked along the Avenue de Champagne and learned about the various bottle makers. We will definitely be showing off the next time we encounter a bottle of champagne during a dinner :-).
We spent a day town hopping, vineyard walking, and bread and cheese eating. From Épernay to Hautvillers, Pourcy, Reims, Verzy, Nancy... During our time in Nancy, we visited their beautiful cathedral, Place Stanislas, and a couple of Art Nouveau houses -- an architectural style that, according to Lonely Planet, "combined iron, brick, glass and ceramics in ways never before seen" (we're still trying to work out what that one means).
