From Stuttgart to Munich with love

So far on our trip it's been just the two of us. But last week, we were fortunate to meet up with several close friends. After leaving the Black Forest, we saw Daniela (Ari's former roommate) and her partner Jens in Rottweil where we went for a traditional meal...at an Indian restaurant. :-/ We loved catching up with them, since we hadn't seen them in a while. We ended up following them back to their place in Stuttgart. Did we mention that Jens has a Mercedes? We don't have a picture of Ghinwa riding in that car on the autobahn but you can probably imagine what she looked like. Hint: see previous blog entry.

From Stuttgart, we continued east to Munich where Youssef (Ghinwa's close friend from university), his wife Nadine, and their two boys Samir and Jad welcomed us. Ari proceeded to empty their fridge and cupboards. They made us feel at home, especially with their manoucheh and hummus. We stayed up late into the night, talking and eating. Mostly eating. Mostly Ari. The next day Youssef and his family took us around Munich, where we miraculously avoided Oktoberfest.

Conversation:

Ari: Schoenen schoenen Tag.

Ghinwa: That doesn't make any sense.

Ari: Yes it does. I heard Jens say it to the waiter at dinner last night.

Daniela: Ohhh. It's actually "Ich wunsche Ihnen einen schoenen Tag."

Ghinwa: Ha. I told you that didn't make any sense.

Ari: But if you say it real fast it sounds like "schoenen schoenen Tag." So I'm sticking with my version.

---

Random German person: Guten Tag.

Ari: Schoenen schoenen Tag.

Ghinwa: Great. :-/
